We visited for dinner during their 3-6 happy hour. Service a bit slow. Discounted drinks and appetizers. House margaritas are so good! Taquitos, plantain empanadas were delicious. Chicken tortillas soup is more like a tomato bisque consistency and spice level was missing for us. I ordered the potato tacos as a main course. My husband had the shrimp dish (heads on so beware). Others ordered the chicken enchiladas and the lamb barbacoa. Dessert was the chocolate pyramid and chuirros. Food was good, but their sister restaurant Caracol is our favorite by far.

Service is outstanding & the food is ver traditional authentic mexican dishes. A must is the tres leches cake!

Had not been to Hugo’s in about 3 years, and the brunch is still the best. So many delicious options. I had multiple servings on the ceviche (my favorite) We celebrated a birthday with some friends. There is band playing during brunch. It can be a bit loud so if you don’t want to be near the band just ask when you make your reservation.

I went to Hugo’s for dinner with a friend who visited Houston from another state. The food is good. I think they offer upscale Mexican cuisine that not only focuses on the best taste quality but also on visual decoration and plating. The dining hall hosted a party on one side separated by a partition, so it was a bit noisy. Yet the staff was attentive and friendly. Overall, it was a fun and enjoyable experience.

fantastic food and top notch service. Rachel took excellent care of us, and Guillermo the manager also stopped by our table to check on us. He even came back with some complimentary house made hot chocolate. Wonderful vegan options and they were even considerate about putting the cheese on the side with our guac, salsa, and chips app.

3.5/5. The interior is super nice and it's definitely a very popular Houston spot. (Disclaimer: ordered from the vegetarian menu). The entresmes we ordered were really good! However, the platos fuertes were not super great. They weren't bad but not something I'd order again. Other than that we had a nice server who answered any questions we had and recommended the entresmes we got so that was a success! Hugo's is probably a whole different experience for non-vegetarians and I do appreciate the fact that they have a vegetarian menu (which majority of places don't)! I just find it hard to justify the price for the food that was served. Maybe would come again for just the entresmes and a drink cause the plating and vibes are definitely great for a Friday night vibe!

WOW! What an amazing experience this was all the way around. Service: 10/10 - Our waiter was sweet as pie, and totally on the ball. Ambiance: 10/10 - Felt like an upscale steakhouse, only without the pretense. Food: 10/10 - Perfect! Deserves a Michelin Star! Here's a breakdown: - Taquitos de Pollo - Genius - they smoke the tender chicken and fry the shell to perfection. Immersed in a delicious creama and guacamole combo. Could not possibly be any better. - Ceviche Verde - Wonderfully fresh, and served with topopos to give the contrasting crunch that really makes the grade. - Camorro de Puerco - Generous and flavorful beyond words. We loved every single bite and could not finish it all. - Pato en Mole Poblano - Perfection that would make Joël Robuchon blush. Indescribably beautiful contrasts of texture and flavor. Part Thanksgiving dinner, part French technique, and all Mexican perfection. This is the dish to try, hands down. - Churros Rellenos - Can it get any more genuine than this? The Mexican hot chocolate for dipping says no, señor. Pure bliss and freshness in every way. Hugo's was one of the best restaurants we've visited in recent memory, and we go out a lot. No question that we will be suggesting it to friends and family visiting Houston for years to come.

It's been sooo long since I've been to Hugo's. Everything was fantastic. Service was wonderful and the food was delicious! I was so happy they had Austin Hope offered by the liter. The scallops were soo good that I wanted to take some home for later. Everything was so fresh. I'm adding Hugo's to the top of my list for places to go. Can't wait to return!

We had a great anniversary lunch at Hugo's. Floor to wall windows that provided lighting and a view of Westheimer. Service was on point.

Came here for a date night the other weekend because we hadn't been in several years. They have updated the dining space in the past couple of years and it's very clean and nice but the ambiance is kind of "meh". Maybe because the restaurant is so large, but it just wasn't very vibey. Our drinks came quickly after ordering which was great. For dinner we ordered the guacamole, the crispy duck, the slow roasted pork shank and the brussels. The food was fine but honestly kind of bland. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I was pretty surprised because we went to xochi recently and the food there was superb. I was specifically disappointed by the Brussels sprouts because they are listed as "charred" on the menu but they are for sure flash fried. I wish we could just all agree to stop frying Brussels! Overall the experience was fine but I don't think I would come back for a date night. Would give a 3.5 if that was an option.
